If you find yourself in or near Edinburgh during the Fringe next month, do check out Toby Hadoke’s one man show My Stepson Stole My Sonic Screwdriver.?

A follow up to his popular and successful Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf (recapped at the start for newbies but available from BBC Audio), Screwdriver picks up the story from Toby’s first Edinburgh run of Moths and roughly the broadcast of Doctor Who story Blink. Through a one hour show, Toby gives a moving but also wildly funny account of his relationships, children, illness and, of course, abiding love for our favourite Time Lord. With the addition of family photos and audience interaction through a Doctor Who Programme Guide (Toby’s memory for actors from the series remains undiminished), this show feels agreeably fresh after Moths, and a delight both for Who fans and anyone who knows or loves them.

A few try out previews remain ahead of the Fringe (check www.tobyhadoke.com for details), and if you can’t get to see this show in Scotland, a later transfer to the West End stage must surely be somewhere in the space time vortex, or I’ll eat my fez.
