It’s probably ironic, really. Back in the 1970s I was pretty much obsessed my comic books in general and Marvel Comics in particular. Spider-Man, Daredevil, Hulk, The X-Men; I devoured them all month after month. Marvel could do no wrong and I spent a youthful fortune collecting these four-colour fantasies. But I fell out of love with superheroes almost overnight and now, years later, they’re hot stuff again, albeit this time on the big screen with big stars and big budgets available to back up their outlandish adventures.
